Plaza del Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi Square

It is one of the most representative spaces in the town. Next to the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, the square takes on special prominence during Corpus Christi, a festival deeply rooted in local tradition.

On this occasion, the square and its surroundings are decorated with colorful sawdust carpets, altars, flowerpots, and religious motifs, thanks to the involvement of local residents. This setting reflects not only popular religiosity but also the community spirit of the town.

In recent years, the square has undergone a renovation that included the installation of a central monument, conceived as a tribute to the culture, traditions, and values of the town. Beyond its role during the festivities, Corpus Christi Square is a daily meeting and socializing space, forming part of Valenzuela’s urban and symbolic heritage.

Spain Square

Valenzuela’s Spain Square (Córdoba) is the administrative and social heart of the town. Located in the urban center, it houses the Town Hall at number 2 of the square and serves as a reference point for public services and institutional life. In 2003, a sculpture by the artist Francisco Valenzuela was inaugurated at its center, dedicated to María Isidra de Guzmán, the first woman to earn a doctorate in Philosophy in Spain, as a symbol of women’s access to education and culture.

Beyond its administrative function, the square is a space for socializing and meeting for residents. Nearby are establishments such as Café-Bar La Plaza, which holds a prominent place in the daily life of the town. Spain Square is also the setting for cultural and festive events, establishing itself as an emblematic place that reflects the identity and heritage of Valenzuela.

Plaza de España
Centro Cultural Juan El Impresor
Juan El Impresor Cultural Center

This emblematic space reflects the transformation of an old granary into a modern auditorium. It pays tribute to Juan Rodríguez de Bustamante (1536–1588), a Jesuit born in Valenzuela and founder of the first printing press in India. Its name highlights the contribution of this illustrious resident to global cultural heritage. The building, located on Carretera de Baena, s/n, has been adapted to host various cultural and social activities, establishing itself as a meeting point for the local community.

In addition to its function as an auditorium, the Juan El Impresor Cultural Center is part of the town’s cultural facilities, along with other spaces such as the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and the Old Hospital of Jesus and Mary. These places form the cultural fabric of Valenzuela, offering residents and visitors a variety of activities and events that enrich community life.
